I realize that you probably haven't gone out of your way to see this movie, "Love Ranch" so here are some samples I pulled from it showcasing the time lapse photography I directed using the Sony Panavision Genesis system. Much thanks to Ralph Watson.

I just found these early storyboards for that trapped in traffic sequence from "Two Weeks Notice." A bit ambitious, the director wanted to shoot the thing on the REAL George Washington Bridge in Manhattan, essentially shutting it down for a day. When these were presented to the Bridge Authority they just gave us a look like, "Get the hell out of our office and get the hell out of New York while you're at it." So we stayed in New York and used a small off ramp in Queens.

Poland Springs

Speaking of "Two Weeks Notice", I was standing around on the set one day after I had shot some helicopter shots and Marc, the director wanted me to play the guy in the Poland Springs vehicle staring at a very sour-sick and privacy-seeking lead character in the Winnebago in front of us. To this day, I firmly believe I got the biggest laugh of the movie. I mean, really.

Way back in 2002 I worked on a movie called "Two Weeks Notice". This is what I saw. Stethoscopes and smokes. Old School. True story.

Some clarification is needed. This picture I took has nothing whatsoever to do with the movie. I just captured this as it was happening on the street for real! No staging. Real life... and death.

So I finally got an ipad for my upcoming on-the-hook birthday. Thanks Gesine! I decided to try this app called ArtStudio. Fast download. Very intuitive. I immediately began to "finger" paint and this is what I did. No reference. Just what was in my head. I wonder why these biblical priest types are in my brains.

As a 2nd Unit Director I get to work with a lot of extras. I am quite grateful for them and that people would want to do it in the first place. There's nothing like shooting a lot of people dressed in period garb. On "Ray", there was little money to do a lot, but the Hair/ Makeup team and the Wardrobe department did the most incredible job.

As you can see from these storyboards, I actually had to use tape and paper and pencils and things to make adjustments. There will always be revisions and adjustments up until shooting. Sometimes after. Real Caveman days. I don't recall the last time I have seen a scotch tape dispenser.
